These guys are never "cured." They might learn to manage their behaviour - but not at your daughter's expense. Or yours, for that matter.

Fifi, I think you are doing the right thing. Like I said in last night's comment, I don't know a thing about prospective BIL, and while it is possible that his conviction is something that has turned his life around (in a positive way) and he has seen the error of his ways, there is NO WAY Biba is a test case. I also wonder WTF Ned's sister is thinking, and I hope she doesn't have kids of her own as they are definitely at risk. Well, you know the threat and I know you will keep Biba safe. If that ruffles some "family feathers", too fucking bad. There is a reason sex offenses are so stigmatized. You are doing the right thing, Fifi. XOXO

Holy Jeebus. Having gone through the wringer on this very subject with my children, I must agree with everyone else, especially swimmmy. Offenders are NEVER cured. Ever. And yeah, the SOB likely pled down the charge. Screw anyone who doesn't "get it" or who thinks you are overreacting. Do what your gut tells you is right, you are an excellent mom, and I hope all turns out well.

Take care, Fifs. I totally agree with you. I wouldn't let a guy with that record anywhere near a child either, especially in a sleeping situation. You're not ostracizing him; you're protecting Biba. Good for you. XO

Oh, Fifi, I am so sorry to hear about this. That is horrible. I totally understand why you had all that panic, I would never be able to go near such a person -- let alone participate with them in family events. I'd be too scared. You're the best mother! God bless you Fifi.
