Bah from me, too. Violence must be stopped. Especially the threat of violence in the places you have to keep coming back to, like your school or your own home. Jx

The thing is that the origin of most if not all of this violence is insufficent love. People don't hate generally unless they're hurt. At least that's my belief. Thanks for posting that Susan Boyle article. It made me cry! I keep on crying over this woman!

You're describing my world, on a juvenile level. I deal with teenagers who, for lack of a better reason, victimize because it's the only thing they know. How sick is that?! BAH!! I'd like to say we are able to "fix" them before the courts say we are done, but in my experience (10 years worth), we make a difference maybe 70% of the time. Actually, that's an awfully good track record, but still leaves about 30% that gone on to commit crimes as an adult. BAH!

The 70% is a rough guess agency wide. In my specific unit, we are closer to 90-95% successful, based on recidivism of their particular offense. This is from a program that is at least one year in length and often longer. We start them thinking differently, but often are forced to send them back to the same sesspool from which they came. It isn't unusual that their parents are just as bad, and their way of thinking just goes on and on. Sad and frustrating.
