"Shipping News" was a great film, I thought. Originally John Travolta was supposed to be Quoyle, which in my head would have been quite perfect. When I found out Kevin Spacey had been cast in his place, I was quite disappointed -- so the first time I saw it, I kept making imaginary contrasts between them -- CONSTANTLY. Nothing was quite the way I thought it would be from the book (which I truly loved and still love) but Lasse Hallstrom still made a highly satisfying film. Love, R xxx

Fifi, I'm feeling that positive air in the year so far, too! I think the same as you on the Inauguration day. How much more motivating than "anything goes," haha that was perfect. And also, don't worry about not commenting - I also never know what to say. But you are naturally expressive. Love ya! :)

Oh you so should be a world leader. You can be PM of Canada. I liked the Shipping News movie also (although of course it doesn't quite capture the book), and I agree with Miss Hiss that Spacey was not the best casting. Julianne Moore and Judi Dench were both good in the film and the Newfoundland scenery speaks for itself! Not a great film but an enjoyable one nevertheless. And I was partial to the handknits in the film. :) Oh and Gorden Pins3nt is in it! That will mean nothing to you, but do forgive me a little bit of Canadiana.
