Fifi, please feel free to email me off Dland any time you want. Never an imposition. We can discuss any philosophy you want, which is one of my favorite pastimes. I don't think I'd get specific about who I would consider a trainwreck, but I'm definitely ok with an abstract discussion about the usual characteristics. Trainwrecks have it bad enough without me dumping on them. If you don't already have my email, let me know. It know it's floating around out there in a few places. I'm glad you're feeling better. :)

re: friends. Yes, it is the need to control that makes it hard. For the first time in forever, I finally see that need sliding over the horizon and it is a lot less stressful as a result. Things happen. Sometimes you can't do anything about it. I figure a life has several different chapters and the players come and go, regardless of their impact. All you can do is say farewell and get back to getting on with your own life. I hope the changes for you are good ones. :)

Fifi, no, you aren't a train wreck, for me or for anyone else. Those dudes that did the Ben/You Tube thing... I'm not even going to think about their train wreck status. In fact, I'm going to try not to think about what else I could have done in those three minutes... Of course, I wasn't drunk. Maybe that would have helped. Thanks for sharing, Fifi. XO :)

Fifi, I think that what you say about our mutual friend is interesting, but I still disagree. I think she is much better off than she states and thinks. The problem with her is the mindset that she chooses to have. I think that it is the same with me, although I am thankfully gradually working my way out of that! By the way, in Florence the other day our art history teacher was telling us that they think now that fleas transmitted the black plague. Apparently once all of the rats had died, they had no choice but to jump on the humans. :)

Honestly, I meant bubonic plague or black death. The latter sounds so horrible. Did you know that the nursery rhyme "a ring around the rosey" comes from that? Creepy. I know my mother had told me that at some point but I had forgotten it.

re: Gettysburg. Historical aspects aside (which would be enough for me anyway), Gettysburg is a nice, quaint little town (as I remember it.) I hope you get the chance. How far away is it for you?

I'm sorry about the fleas. Carito got some this summer, and now she lives outside. It was terrible. Yay for winter (however)!
