Oh you compliment me again. That is so nice. I really don't see what there is to like in my writing. I think I'm sloppy. But I do appreciate your kind comments. (Oh, and your reassurance!!):) I had to tease Swimmy about the carp sex. Really, I didn't know anything about it - I am always in a dreamstate when I am in nature. I missed all of my biology lessons. :) Oh and actually, re. accents, I can pick them up really well, too, now. This comes from living in different places, I think. I can always pick up an American - they're always mystified, and have no idea where I'm from, because my accent is Canadian but I articulate my words very clearly and apparently also have a bit of a lilt, so people guess from all over the place - and I'm sooo good at picking out Aussies and kiwis and more importantly people who have lived in different places. I can usually pick out if someone is Czech but went to school in Sweden and then lived in Britain, for example. I always try to figure out the trajectories (language-wise, at least) of my pilots, especially on trans-Atlantic flights. So interesting! One gets a lot of practise in this these days, with how international things are. :)

Oh, and I meant that I can tell where from in the U.S. Americans are. :) It's quite fun, really. I can tell Canadians, too, almost right down to their city. BUt that comes from listening, I think. Maybe we're both just great LISTENERS? ;-)

When I was paddling around in the lagoons yesterday, I came across this big grey thing in the middle of Long Pond. I first thought it was this big turtle I'd been chasing around, but as I drifted closer, I saw this huge mouth and the length of its ugly carp body. AT LEAST 3-4 foot long; could have been 50 lbs - just a guess. I hear them in the shallows and yes, they are very noisy. As far as accents, I was about 2,000 miles away from home a couple trips ago in southern Utah and I was talking to an older couple when this young girl nearby chimes in with "Are you from Ohio?" which is actually only about 45 miles away from where I live. People have always told me about my "Buffalo accent", which is where I'm originally from. Good stories, Fifi, keep 'em coming! :)

I love me some trashy detective novels. I'm reading one by Jesse Kellerman (Trouble) with a character who uses words just like you do! She's a bit of a worry though, instead of being just spendid. Hugs xx
